Rent.is in Iceland

The service provided by northbound was great, I received fast answers to my questions by e-mail. The only feedback I have here is that the booking site could be improved to find all the information more easily. In my case it was not so clearly recognisable that rent.is does not offer pick up service directly at hotels in Reykjavik which we would have needed. The staff at rent.is was not so friendly when they handed over the car, there was no time for explanations and several things we had to find out by ourselves. The car itself was in a very good condition but the Camping unit built on it not and seemed to be older than the car. We even had to repair a broken tube from the heater during our trip. Fortunately some fishermen at Hauganes provided some materials we needed for the repair. But overall booking that specific car was the right decision and we had a great experience in Iceland and could go and stay where we wanted. Big thanks to you and your team! Andreas

The Duster is certainly a great, unpretentious car for Iceland that offers both the ruggedness and sufficient comfort to go almost anywhere. It came as a somewhat older model, yet it was in good condition and completely reliable even during and after long dirt road sections. It offers sufficient space inside, and the roof tent was perfect for us two, even in quite windy conditions. The experience only had one small disconnect, which was the timing of return. As we arrived early morning but departed late evening, there were several back-and-forth about not having to return the car that last day in the morning and then being stranded at Keflavik. But it resolved itself, and all was swift, friendly and without any tedious steps. Great experience, and would certainly do it again. (one suggestion: add wading depth info for the Duster in its configuration to the info available to drivers)

A decent, functional vehicle that despite over 300k on the clock, drove like a dream. The clutch, torque and fuel economy were great. We liked the fully functional basic camping accessories (ie. fridge, heater, portable stove and camp kit). One minor irritation is that, to get out of the back of the van, you need to climb into the front, which is okay for short people with good knees, less so for others. Because of this, our vehicle’s passenger-side head rest was already broken and just flopping around, and the centre console was getting a bit loose, given that people have to put weight on these parts to climb in the front. There are backdoor handles inside, but can not be fully accessed due to the bed frame. A solution would be to simply cut out a small semi-circle out of the timber bed frame which will allow the door handle to be levered open.

Hi, I'm Lidia, Jose's wife. the experience has been magnificent. Although we had some problems with the heating of the caravan, which were resolved the next day at rent.is. (very efficient and attentive people). the super friendly people and some landscapes that leave you with your mouth open. to end the trip, was to see a volcano erupting. this completes it. We hope we can return. Thanks for everything

The car was in perfect condition, the service at pick up and drop off was friendly and without any problems. As a minor problem, all knives, forks and spoons were missing from the camping equipment booked. The cover of the storage space under the rear bench seat could not be opened. All in all a recommendable rental opportunity

The car was great and totally suitable for as! Thanks to the team at northbound who changed the vehicle while we were already on the way to Iceland. So we got a really campervan with sleeping space in the roof and everything we needed for a good trip. Car was obviously used but ok and we had a great trip even through the highlands...
