We ended up renting a Hyundai but it was great. Hybrid, good on gas... just what we needed for our 2+ week stay!

Everything went well with the rental car; it was a comfortable model allowing us to drive once on a F Road but most of the weekly roadtour (about 1350 km) was on standard roads where that fuel powered carmodel was quite efficient ( about 6 l/ 100 km). We could not claim about the space (cabin + trunk) which was fairly enough for 5 persons. Only remark from my side is that a few information on the car functions would have been a Plus while starting from the airport station since we did not find any userguide in the car.

There were shuttle bus picked up our group and took us to the car rental place located 5-10 mins away from airport. The staff there was friendly and they serve free coffee and tea. The car was good size for 4 adults with 3 large size luggage and 1 carry one plus 5 small backpacks. We did manage to get to a few of the highland spots with this car. The hybrid feature of this car also saved us some gas money. The only draw back I would say is the seats are not the most comfortable and the suspension was pretty bad. Overall we are happy with this car and we had a wonderful trip with this car.

all in all everything was ok. The problem was that we weren't clear on which streets we were allowed to drive according to the landlord (a colored map would be practical and easy to create) and where according to the police we were allowed to drive. There was a sign saying that F-Raods are only allowed to be driven by 4x4. And a 4wd is not a 4x4 according to the police sign. Our Duster like all others is not a 4x4 but a 4wd. That's really stupid for a tourist and at the end the sign says you're not allowed to drive on F-Roads but that's exactly why you rented the Duster. We also called the hotline once (24 hours a day) and no one answered. Eamils from you were answered very quickly and well.

It was perfect for our trip! The car worked great, very spacious and the provided internet kept us online all week. The check-in process felt a bit chaotic but once we got the car everything was great!

Picking up the car was a bit disorganized. There was no line; just a desk with a handful of people working behind them--and no queue; no line and no way to determine who was "next" in line. People dropping off and picking up the cars were intermingled at the Keflavik location, contributing further to the confusion. Worse, when I picked up the car, it did not actually have a full tank of gas. The meter registered as 'full' on pickup--but within a few kilometers of driving away it ticked down to 7/8ths of a tank, and at 3/4ths of a tank by the time we arrived in Reykjavik, leaving me with the impression the fuel tank only had a 200-300 km range. (After filling the tank and driving it conservatively for a while the car was indicating it could easily get 550-600km range.) On returning the car the person behind the desk went out to examine the car and supposedly found a minor "scratch" which required review by the manager, and asked me why we had not bought the insurance. (We are insured through our travel card.) The return process started feeling a little "shady" as a result--and while the manager had decided the scratch was not worth bothering with, I got lectured about how the scratch would just be 'buffed out' and given how new the car was, well, you know how these things go. Every other car rental company I have rented cars from make it clear what they consider damage from the outset; a dent larger than a certain coin size (often a dime or a quarter in the United States) is a problem; minor nicks--and this one could have been confused for a small splatter of dirt less than a few millimeters in length--are certainly not considered a problem. This makes me want to take detailed photos of every imperfection the next time I rent from you so I don't have to go through the run-around and worry if your company is going to decide to do a grab against my credit card for something no other rental car company would care about. The car itself, on the other hand, was a great car, and performed admirably. It's the sort of car I wouldn't mind actually owning, and we were rather pleased with the car itself. I note my experiences as the e-mail you sent me indicated your company is new--and I suspect my experiences are the normal frictions that happen with a new company. Thus, the detailed notes.
