Ring in Iceland

The vehicle was great and met my expectations. I would highly recommend others to get the same. The only disappointing part that we had with the N1 gas station. For some reason my credit/debit both were not working and we were stuck in a small town (Djúpivogur) at midnight because there was no other gas station available in that location. Also, the helpline was not working either. I called one of the staff from Ring and he also tried to help me with the information I needed but nothing worked. Then I found some people who were sitting outside of the hotel and they helped me with it. Then I had to travel another 90km to reach my destination at midnight 2 am. The road condition was not that good. I am talking about the Öxi Pass that I took accidentally because google sent me to that direction because of the limited time we had. Anyway, the reason I was telling you all these is because if I would have known that my cards won't work in N1 station then I would have prepared for it. It would be better if the staff mention all these before the pick up. Just a warning. It will save both passengers and the vehicle from difficult scenarios. But overall, it was good experience and I am glad that we went with the Northbound deal. :)

We rented a 4x4 Mitsubishi Eclipse for our Iceland tour (May 31-June 07) and it was absolutely amazing. We are 3 people, our 3 luggage of 20kg each fits at the back of the car. At the back seat is spacious, 1person + 3 backpacks + our 2 big paper bags of our food supplies. Renting the car in Northbound compared to other rental car is definitely way more cheap. The customer service replies fast to all my inquiries, thanks for the patience though lol. But please be informed that they are using a 3rd party insurance company (not the same insurance that the actual rental car company is using), hence they will ask you for a deposit of EUR 2,000 which they will refund once you return the car (in good condition). I'm still waiting for my refund but they said it's under process.

A very practical and economic vehicle to tour around Iceland. Ice tyre rumble took a bit of getting used to. Vehicle facilities useful in particular cruise control and HUD integrating with iphone maps. Car was relatively new at 41k though ‘brand new ‘a bit misleading, with some gravel damage and boot cover missing until requested .Gears were very clunky ( I usually drive Volvo ) and handbrake cable a bit slack but effective. Ring rental vehicle pickup and return was very straightforward. Very good service from rental agent with short shuttle to office at edge of airport and even some helpful input about proposed destinations for road trip on our 3 day trip.

My Eclipse Cross was a great vehicle for my road-trip of the south coast of Iceland. The eco mode allowed me to conserve gas to help me save money during my trip. The F-Roads were closed, but it handled all gravel roads with ease and was an extremely smooth drive all around.
