Outstanding!
Everything was as promised. The car was brand new (my voucher said 2013 so I did not mind). The vehicle ran very well, no concerns. I thought I was getting a 4WD vehicle, but my voucher did not say that. I was probably confused by the name of the Company (ICE-Rental 4X4).
So nothing wrong with the car. it did everything I asked of it. good vehicle. The tent was adequate, we had some rain and managed to stay dry. Sleeping bags were almost too thin, we brought liners so that helped. We used the cooking stuff just to heat water for coffee/tea and freeze dried meals. It worked.
The airport pickup did not go as smoothly as I had hoped. Expecting a guy holding up a sign with my name on it, or at least something that said "Northbound". But nothing. we were standing around looking lost in the Arrivals area for about 20 minutes. in the end I just started asking people there, and got lucky.
Overall a good experience.

My experience with Icerental 4x4 was great. Everything was as I expected with our vehicle. We were able to travel on all of the back roads and through streams and mud. The Jimny was great, the vehicle was brand new, ran wonderfully and it was great on petrol. We were given a GPS and a WiFi router to plug in, which came in handy. We relied on Google Maps to navigate the South side of the country. One detail that could be improved on is the tent. It was a little older and had signs of mildew or mold from being damp. When it rained, we did get dripped on. The seam on the top of the tent leaked and the tent soaked up water and ran down the inside of the tent onto the pillows and sleeping bags. We had waterproof bags (thank god). Overall, our time in Iceland driving the Jimny was very pleasant and the vehicle did it's job. The staff were very nice and informative. If they offer you the additional insurance UPGRADE!!! We did, and were glad that we did so. We didn't realize it till the end of our trip but our windshield was chipped and cracked a bit.

First of all at the arrival we got a different car, because the Suzuki Gran Vitara was not available. Anyway it was not bad because we got a Hyundai Tucson. The car had a strong perfume of something used as a sort of spray to clean the car, but after a few minutes we understood that it was meant to cover a very very bad smell that was in the car. Like something was poured out and removed, but the smell was still there. That was a very annoying issue because it is not acceptable to rent a car in this status, most of all when you have to drive long distances. Anyway, the worst thing was the attempt to cover the issue and cheat the customer. We contacted the Nothbound Customer Service (very responsive and kind) but Icerental never tried to get in touch with us.
Only positive remark was that we got a refund of 10% at the end.
In summary the experience with Icerental 4x4 was bad, they were not at all professional and trustworthy.

Pickup of the vehicle went smooth, the staff was friendly and helpful. The car itself was great and very suitable for F-roads and crossing small rivers (like when travelling to Landmannalaugar).
The equipment could have been better. The GPS and blankets listed in the vehicle information were missing, and the sleeping bags were not sufficient for the Icelandic weather (according to the label, comfortable around 12 degrees, and 5 degrees as lowest temperature), so we had to buy blankets to stay warm.

Icerental 4x4 was an easy reservation with a good cancellation policy and overall, great customer service; however, the reason why I give it 4 stars versus 5 is the process when returning the car. It was great they allowed me to return the vehicle to their Reykjavik office instead of their Keflavik office (I was taking a domestic flight out of Reykjavik) but when I went to return the vehicle, there was no agent present at the office. There wasn't any instructions on what to do with the rental. If you can imagine that a customer would be worried to leave a rental car with no one around and no instructions on what to do. I called the office in Keflavik and the agent was very nice, but in the future, it would help if they had some guidance for their customers if that situation were to happen again. Other than that, I had a most positive experience with Icerental 4x4.
