Lagoon Car Rental in Iceland

When picking up the car I noticed immediately it had a low tire. The person at Lagoon rental disagreed, even though the car was indicating it. He said it was because it just had winter tires put on but if I insisted would put air in the tire. We struggled with this low tire our entire trip, including having to add air 2 times each day (at least!). This is super disappointing because they moved the car in the lot and didn't say anything to us. I had to point it out. When returning the car I was met with what I would call poor and rude service. Maybe this is an Icelandic thing, but I would expect them to ask how the car was and if we had any issues. Additionally, the car seats we rented and were given were poor at best. I can't believe that's the European standard, we would've been better off bringing our own. Overall I would never recommend or rent from Lagoon Car Rental again.

Hi, We booked a camper van at Lagoon Car, we enjoyed driving with the car. Regarding the process, At the time of the return, I was wondering if I could just have a proof that I returned the car, a receipt with the signature, date, name of the agent and signature. This is the only part that think should be corrected, otherwise everything was really smooth an professionnal. The speed of the transaction, the employee, the shuttle service were those details that made our trip much easier. Thanks Lagoon!

Excellent service. Our flight was 5 hours late and they have waited us at the airport without any problem! At the last day, when I returned the car back, they brought me back to the Hotel in Keflavik with no extra cost! EXCELLENT

Fantastic. Someone picked us from the airport to the their office where we paid and picked the car. Drop-off was pretty easy . Great company and thank you.

It was pretty good. The only thing I would say is when we came out there was no one holding a sign and we ended up calling them and waiting a long time for them to pick us up. Also they gave us a Subaru Forrester and it would have been helpful to have someone show us how the car works, especially the mirrors and setting up our phone for music. The guy at the counter was not very friendly. The return of the car was much better. The person we dealt with was very friendly and we were dropped off at the airport without any delay.

There were ups and downs with our experience with Lagoon Car Rental. First the pickup at the airport did not go as smoothly as expected. There was no-one meeting us at arrivals, we waited about 20 minutes before seeing a Lagoon employer but then because the shuttle can only carry 8 passengers we had to wait for the next trip another 30 minutes. Once at the office, the process was a bit slow as we had to wait in line. Then there were no more Foresters available. I was " upgraded" to a Kia Sedona. I discovered over the next couple of days that one of the tires had a slow leak as I found that I had to put air in it each morning. I called Lagoon and they directed me to a tire shop for repair which worked out just fine. Returning the car was a bit of an adventure as the office has no signage. Then again because the van only carries 8 we had to wait for the next trip, which wasn't a problem for us as we anticipated this likelyhood. But overall, other than the tire problem, the car was great the service was good and the agents were were all pleasant.

The car ran fine but we found the deductible on the insurance coverage to be extremely high! Also, the building was very difficult to locate when we had to return the vehicle.

First time in Iceland and I definitely recommend this company for car rentals. Amazing prices and had 0 issues. They are located 5 mins from the airport and their location serves free coffee/hot choc/ water - much needed after a long flight. 0 problems with the car and customer service was great.

We were pretty happy with our rental from lagoon. We got an automatic, 2017 VW Caddy van. Service was fairly good. I did have to wait at the airport for over half an hour for my shuttle which wasn't really a huge deal. Pickup was super quick and easy and the vehicle was amazingly clean and appeared almost brand new! The van itself was basic but reliable. I suggest anyone planning on doing any rural driving or driving in the mountains, an automatic is best. Iceland has some pretty sketchy roads. We rented in mid October and I was a little disappointed that there was no heater in the van. The blankets provided were pretty warm but the van got very cold at night and I had to layer up and wear my jacket and hat to bed every night. The bed was okay, kind of uncomfortable where the metal bar supports the mattress. I wasnt too bothered by it, but I'm sure it would be frustrating for people who need a comfortable bed. The rental process itself was good, but I believe a more orientation would be beneficial to camper renters. I think the staff should have a checklist of things to cover off with each person renting a camper such as how to use certain features etc. Overall, I would recommend lagoon, but know that you get what you pay for. I rented a camper for fairly cheap and what I got was basic but worked for what we needed.

I´m very pleased with the proffesional service I got from Lagoon Car Rental. They picked me up and delivered me at the airport in Reykjavik and it only took about 7-8 min. driving to and from their office. The car was in very good condition and everything went perfekt on our trip.

Great customer service!

We didn’t get the car we ordered. But Got a brand New one. It was great! But! I wish Lagoon car had helped US and informed us better about the speeding rulles and the hidden speeding cameras. We Got tickets for driving too fast, b/c of those cameras so it would have been Nice if they told US about that, just like an extra service. Its hard not to drive more than 90 on a 100km long striaght road

The positives- the staff were pleasent and it was a relitavely easy process get the car. We waited in th airport for about 10 minutes to get picked up which we thought was acceptable. The negatives- the car had a few scratches and chips prior to our use. It also had a big crack on the windscreen. Although we didnt expect a perfect car we didnt expect to drive one with a big crack along the windscreen. You would have thought that the company would have repaired the car as they probably charged some poor people a lot of money for causing the chipped windscreen. Another negative was the location of the rental office wasn’t easy to find especially in the dark. The sat nav sent us down a no entry road. We were lucky that we had plenty of time to find an alternative route. Something for people to bear in mind if they’re dropping the car off before catching a flight.

Our car wasn't ready when we were scheduled to pick it up, but that might not have been the fault of Lagoon. They had sent the car to the garage to have winter tires put on (which turned out to be a wise choice) and it wasn't returned until an hour after our pick up time. Also, we don't have a gps and better directions for getting out of the city would have been appreciated.Other than that everything went smoothly, and we were pleased with the car. It was perfect for the two of us, in good shape, and the price was reasonable. We would use Northbound and Lagoon again.

Words cannot explain how professional and courteous this rental company is. Prior to my arrival in Iceland I had several questions and they were adressed in quick manner, it made me feel assured that I was in good hands. On my way to Iceland my flight was delayed due to inclement weather, I was concerned because I knew that arrangements had been set in place so that a lagoon representative would be waiting for us to transport us to the main office, but once we arrived at KEF airport I contacted their office and a representative was onsite to pick us up within 10 minutes. We were greeted at the office by very gregarious representative who offered some last minutes tips with regards to driving in Iceland that I found extremely valuable due to the volitility of Icelandic weather and because our intiniary involved driving the entire ring road. I mentioned that I would be driving in the westfjords (alot of unpaved roads and loose gravel) and they strongly suggested that I upgrade my insurance policy to include gravel protection. While some might feel that this is a ploy to upsell services, I assure you this is not the case, they did not pressure us at all and only had the best intentions in mind when suggesting such services. Within a few hours of leaving Reykjavik it became clear that stones chips being hurled at our vehicle would be a normality and by the end of the trip there were some visible stone chips on our windshield. Looking back I had many options to choose from when it came to down to car rentals but I am extremely greatful and satisfied that I choose Lagoon Car Rental because their cars were in excellent condition, prices were fair and in some cases by far cheaper than many companies and most importantly I had the support of a company who's main priority was ensuring that my trip would be a hassle free and memorable. Great service.

My wife and I did a full lap around the island over the course of seven days with one of a Volkswagen Caddy Camper. We could not have been more impressed with how comfortable, reliable, and convenient the camper was for our trip. We used a camp stove to cook out the back, found great places to park for free along the way, and had access to amazing views quickly because of the camper. I couldn't recommend this camper and this company higher.

The car was very clean and it had just a few kilometers. It was almost new and it's a great vihicle for 2 persons. Our iceland trip was very good and we had no problems with the caddy. However, some i recommend 2 improvements. 1. The car had summer tires in october. Even if the street conditions were good on our trip, winter tires would feel much better. The 2. improvement is about the booking page. We dropped the car off one day later, then we booked it. This was a mistake on our side, but the booking page was also very confusing. We thought 00:00 o clock means 'on the end of the day' and not on the evening of the day before. Beside this 2 points, everything was great and excactly as expected.

We rented a 2015 car and the car condition seems older than it should be. The car should be maintenanced better before giving it to the next customer. The front door had a squeak sound when opening, the remote for key's ran out of battery and couldn't be changed when we were picking up the car, the break had noise when driving in reverse.

Super stoked on the rental + process with Lagoon/Northbound. From the initial renting online and getting picked up fairly promptly from the airport to getting our camper (driving the entire ring road in a week) and returning/getting dropped off back at the airport - everything was made super easy and comfortable. It was a great way to start off and finish our journey in a foreign country as wild as Iceland. Definitely recommending to anyone I can!
