Lava Car Rental in Iceland

The whole experience was a breeze, right from booking online to being picked up and handed the vehicle and finally being dropped off to the airport at the end of it. The vehicle itself was in excellent condition and the latest model. Highly recommend the Lava Rental company and Northbound.

Perfect car to drive through Iceland in december. I trully recomended Dacia Duster and Lava Car Rental.

Unfortunately I`m not really satisfied with renting a car from lava car rental. The Duster I got had a back seat with dirt smudge and one of the front lights didn`t work. As contracted, I wanted to give back the car at the 25.12.2019 at 16:00 o`clock. The station of lava car rental was not in use, I only found an information at the front door, that the clients should take their car to their hotel and leave the key of the car there, so that lava cars could pick up the car there. Normally, that would be o.k. (I know, it was christmas), but in that case it would have been nice, if lava car rental would have informed me about this arrangement, when picking up the car, so I could arrange the last day in iceland in another way. I`m sorry, but I`m dissapointed about lava car rental - that does not mean, that I`m dissapointed about northbound.

I’m very happy with the booking! Would definitely book again if coming back next time :)

Great car, perfect for the heavy snowfall we had when we were there! It was also helpful to have a lift from/to the airport to the car rental office - made it hassle free.

Very efficient service and friendly staff. The only criticism is that the sat nav I was given didn’t work and they had no replacement. However, they did refund me what it would have cost to hire one. All in all, very happy

The Dacia Duster was the right option for us. 2 by 4, with 4 by 4 whenever needed. Comfortable seats, great heating which is very important when you are going on long drives during Autumn/Winter. Staff at Lava Car Rental was super nice. Especial Artur who picked us up from the airport when we arrived and told us a lot about Iceland. What a nice welcome.

Good experience with Lava Car Rental, would use again. Modern car in good state of repair which served us well during our Iceland Road Trip.

Overall Lava was great. Someone got into an accident with the Dacia we rented, so we were upgraded to a Tucson at no charge. The car was great. However, it had a ripped wiper blade which made visibility on the snowy roads pretty bad. When I returned the car I made sure to point it out to the rental agent, who didn’t apologize, but was quick to point out a 3mm crack in the wind shield that I was then charged 20,000 isk for.

Everything OK. Relatively quick pick up. Decent price in comparison to other car rental companies. Nice 4WD car, no dents nor excessive wear. We were upgraded to a newer model for free, which we really appreciated. Everything went fine.

Car ran flawlessly and handled the road perfectly. Seat warmers were perfect with the cold weather.

The Dacia was the perfect little car for a week touring the SW corner of Iceland. We did 1100km and went up and down some pretty steep slopes and gravel or rocky areas and it was fine with its automatic 4 wheel drive. It was light on fuel, easy to drive and had heated seats which were welcome given the weather

Our rental car from Lava was in excellent condition and worked very well for our trip.

Service was perfect. They pick us up at the airport and drop us off when returning the car. The only negative point was the car status. In spite of not having problems with it, the status is not so good like with international car rental companies.

Eeerything was perect. Fast pickup and car return. Car in excellent condition and super clean. The only dropback was taht the car wasn´t equipped with wintertires at the pickup. But as there was helpful and quick service when I called LAVA referreing to this it was ok. Got new tires within hours.

We had a great experience. Our Dacia Duster was clean and comfortable for the week of exploring. The staff at Lava were quick to get us to and from the airport and check in and out were a breeze. We highly recommend renting from Lava. Steve

OK I know that this is a rather cheap option but the first time I saw the car I was speechless. There were two dents, right front door was hard to control when it is opened and a lot of scratches. But when I ended my tour in Iceland I understood the dents, scratches etc. Pretty normal. BUT still I do not deserve to use a dirty car. Imagine this: you arrive your destination after hours of travel then you go to handover your rental and you have more way to drive. Actually if I had time and energy I would reject the car with that funny smell, foot step on the back seat, paper garbage inside the driver's door etc. Desperately, I took over the car. Frankly, car was in good shape, last maintanance was 1000km ago, tires were good and had no problem other than mentioned ones. Check-in and check-out was easy but I recommend Lava to give a document to the customer stating that they took over the car with no problem.

Lava Car rental was one of the best rental experiences I have had. No problems or pushing of unnecessary extras and they picked us up at the airport. Great service

Overall the experience was great. The only issue I had was that during the pickup from the airport they were not waiting on us. I had to call them to let them know we arrived. They said that they waited for 15 mins and were there at 7am. Our flight never arrived till 7am which I put in our booking. They were quick to return though. I will rent from them again.
