Lava Car Rental in Iceland

The whole rental process was streamlined. Couldn't have had a better experience. The Dacia Duster was fun to ride with 4wd capabilities and Lava rental was on top of their game. The staff were professional and courteous. Northbound staff was spectacular as well from answering multiple questions regardless of time zone. Overall, it was an awesome experience. Would recommend Northbound and Lava. Kudos!

Renting through northbound was both easy and fast. The car was in great condition and we really enjoyed our time in Iceland. We would defenetly recommend Northbound, and will book from it in the future.

Poor experience at airport. We were left by Lava rep. Also more staff needed as had to wait for pick up due to customers in front of us. Suggest you choose another company in future.

Great service, good prices, good communication, and tips!

We booked the car on line from Canada, shortly afterwards we had to change our plans when WOW airlines went into administration. Lava Car Rentals were accommodating with our new plans. We were met at Keflavik airport and transferred to the rental office a few minutes away. The pick up process was quick and efficient and the car, a 2019 Dacia Duster was clean and filled up. No problems during the week and we were able to return the vehicle easily with no fuss and an efficient check in process. No hidden costs. We chose the premium insurance package prior to arriving in Iceland. This certainly gave us peace of mind and seemed worth the cost. Others from the UK may be better arranging a third party excess policy to keep the price down.

Auto abholen, Schock: Beulen, Kratzer, Schrammen am Auto, alte Reifen, Beifahrertür lässt sich nur mit Schwung schliessen. Es wurde ein Zettel mit Mängel übergeben und man musste alleine ums Auto laufen. Auf bitten, das Navi einzustellen wurde gesagt: es ist ganz einfach drücken Sie den und den Knopf. Das Auto wurde nicht erklärt. Mit dem Navi sind wir nicht klargekommen und mussten ohne fahren, was manchmal schwierig war. Der junge Mitarbeiter wollte nicht belästigt werden, Fragen sollte man gar nicht erst stellen. Den Eindruck vermittelte er. Er tat auch keinen Handschlag. Eine Motorkontrollleute leuchtet: Reifenpanne, Rad gewechselt, Motorkontrollleuchte leuchtet weiter, Autovermietung angeschrieben, keine Antwort 2 Tage später/Fahrt nach Stöng Autovermietung noch mal angeschrieben wegen der leuchtenden Motorkontrolllampe, keine Reaktion seitens der Vermietung. 1 Tag später Autovermietung nochmal mit Nachdruck wegen der leuchtenden Motorkontrollleuchte angeschrieben und ein anderes Mietauto verlangt. Die Antwort war, machen Sie sich keine Sorgen, dass ist beim Reifenwechsel normal. Ein anderes Mietauto gab es nicht. Einen weiteren Tag später Reifenpanne, kein Ersatz mehr. Abschleppen zurück nach Kirkjubaejarklaustur. Vermietung übernahm nur die Kosten für die Reifen. Eine Frechheit von der Vermietung, da das Auto mit alten Reifen übergeben wurde. Der Gummi vom Scheibenwischer war auch lose. Das wurde erst bei Regen festgestellt. Die Antwort der Autovermietung war, Sie können es ja reparieren lassen und wir bezahlen das. Ich bin doch nicht für die Instandsetzung des Leihwagens zuständig. Weiter fragte die Autovermietung, ob wir nicht zurück nach Reykjavik kommen können. Eine weitere Frechheit. Wie soll das gehen mit zwei platten Reifen? Der Reifenservice wechselte die Reifen und kontrollierte auch gleich die anderen beiden. Ein ganzer Tag dahin. 1 Tag später/Auf der Ringstrasse Rückgabe des Mietautos und Erstattung der beiden Reifen Das Auto wurde in einem guten Zustand lt. Mietfirma zurückgegeben. Die teilweise sehr jungen Mitarbeiter der Mietfirma wirkten orientierungslos und nicht kompetet, als ob sie nicht wissen, was sie tun. Es fehlte an fachgerecht ausgebildete Mitarbeiter. Es gab keine Entschuldigung seitens der Mietfirma für die Unannehmlichkeiten, den Mehrkosten und den verlorenen Urlaubstag, geschweige denn einen Preisnachlass.

Everything was fine. It was a new car. Friendly managers. Fast service. No problems with car.

This was a no hassle experience, from the first contact to rent the 4X4 to getting picked up at the airport. Once we had the car we got a notice that if we were traveling north that there was a toll tunnel and there was a link to get setup to pay the toll, the link was easy and worked great. Over all I would rent from Lava again. Thank you,
