Wild Campers in Iceland

The car was a little old, and gave us a few disconcerting warning lights (oil, service engine light), but it was very comfortable and didn't give us any problems. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip, and camper significantly added to that enjoyment!

We originally booked the 2015 Peugeot because its a newer car with more space in the back and a table where you could sit at. But when we arived this car wasn't available and we got a 2013 Ford transit which was smaler in the back and older than the Peugot. On the Website, no Car was older than 2015 when we were looking. We were said it was more comfortable because it had a sink with running water but with no table to sit at and a smaller sleeping space. We saw this car on the website when we were booking and decided against it because of this reasons. The running water wasnt needed because wild camping is forbidden and every camping place we've been had that. While driving through rain we realised the windshield whipers in the front (the back shield didnt had any) were eather old or just bad qualitity because it left the windshield stained and while heavier rain it didnt whiped the rain off and we had a bad view. Cleaning the windshield didnt realy work too because it didnt wiped the dirt completely off and left it stained. The heatingsystem sometimes worked and sometimes didnt start in the first place. Later at night it always turned off and it got realy cold. The driving itself was fine except you had to start to drive backwards or forwards through a hole in the street or the street was gradient. Mostly on gravel roads or gravel parkingspaces. In this case the car had a hard time starting. The fuel discount card it said on the website we didnt got. Maybe we would have had to book it extra. Our journey was afterall wonderful and we drove around the island without bigger problems but we wouldn't choose this car if we would be able to choose, especially not for around 1.300€. The pick up and drop off went fine and on time and we were glad we didn't had to organize this ourself, but the car in comparison with the price was disappointing.

Trouble from day one. We got a replacement camper after 4 days, This new camper had also several faults and mal functions.

City Car tried to give us a 2001 VW Van that was a piece of crap Said our agreement said, 2016 Ford Camper or Similar" and they were claiming the 2001 VW Camper was similar. It wasn't and the 2016 Ford Camper was sitting there on the lot. Tooks us an extra 3 hrs to get this corrected

Motorhome was quite old, and mamy tiny things were anoying. But most of all I ordered "Gas bottle", and gad no idea, that IT my be empty. IT was not completely empty, but after 2 data I have to search for full one. Moreover, only gas bottles on N1 stations fit to the system provided im motorhome. Two gas stations on my way ran out of full bottles do I had to search for full one more than 100 km. I bought 10kg bottle, whereas 5kg would be enough (we travelled im 5 pers. and cookies whole meals on it). You van make a tip for next customers to buy 5kg bottle for a 10 day journey. Helllo, Camper was, due to not working tap, exchange for Mercedes Vito. I would prefer bigger camper, but was this one also OK. Would advise following: -a brum for keeping cleanless, -accessories in good condition (our table was without 2 legs, so it was usseles), -spare light bulbs in car, -one bigger pan, -gas cooker (not this small camping burner- for safe cooking inside in case of windy weather), -smaller container for dirty plates and accessories, -12V heating tap for cleaning the dish inside the Van in case of bad weather, Good points: -customers support was OK, -WI-FI was working great, Over all was the experience very good, your land is very beautifu. Had a fantastic time on our 1 week road trip in Iceland, 2600 kms and enjoyed them all. Campervan was great and best of all economical as well as reliable. Great to have the extra size we upgraded to with the table and seat bench as Aussies in the cold were not so good and eating inside was great. Note- add a small frying pan to the kit - just a small pot is restrictive to cooking. just be careful the bedding is adequate - we paid for sleeping kits and they were there but luckily when Mel spotted how thin they were your customer service lady agreed they were pretty thin little rug so she got us a couple thick, bigger duvets to throw in as well and thankfully saved us as we were dead cold in the 2c days we started off in and the nights we needed everything we had. The ones included would have been useless We loved it and had a fantastic experience in Iceland which we all know is hard to get there and harsh economic for travellers so your services were right on the mark for vehicle to value ratio. thanks again Paul & Mel

The company was fabulous…professional, super helpful, cheerful. They went above and beyond. We were going to rent a car and stay in hotels, but this was way better!! The cost of the camper was about the same as a car, so we used hotel money for more adventures. It was cosy and warm. (We rented one with a heater. )

The worst experience of my long life. The agent at the airport picks up too many different companies and holds her hand over VildCampers, therefore an extra time at the airport before she came again to pick up at the next flight and holds her hand only halfway over VildCampers. Although the original agreement with Northbound WLD-8426495 is that the office will receive the remaining payment in cash for the agreed 795, - euros, the office lady refuses to receive cash. Only if I buy extra services with the final sum of 1,180 euros. A difference of 385, - euros which should have been spent on the holiday with the grandchild in Iceland. The car is more possessed than clean, but I have not counted on luxury for the agreed WLD-8426495 795, - euro. The pig line of 385, - euros I want to smear with capital letters for Trustpilot m.m.

I didn't have a good experience with Wild campers. They provided bad campers which lacked basic facilities for campers. Writing an email to them was vain, just to know how bad they care for people's lives in campers. Campers are supposed to help you sleep and cook in it, but if they lack that facility, I think it's bad, when asked about why they provided bad quality service. The reply from the customer care service was they cannot provide new pan for cooking ( I got worned out pan which cannot be used for cooking with teflon coating worned out) and no screen to separate sleeping area from driving area (their reply was to use wind screen protector to make partition, I mean how would you do that ?). In the end, it just feels bad that a country known for tourism is treating the customer badly. Campervan booking from Northbound was good, and helped a lot.
