Icerental 4x4 in Iceland

I rented one Dacia Duster for one week from Icerental 4x4. Couldnt be happier. Awesome car and awesome guys working there. Would totally suggest this company for others and will for sure rent from this company again the next time I will visit Iceland.

Very friendly staff who spoke English very well indeed. Picked us up promptly and drove us to and from airport. There was a problem initially getting us back to the airport from the icerental base but it was solved quickly by taking us to the airport in the same car we had just returned! Thank you very much, will recommend to friends travelling to Iceland.

Excellent company to deal with, good deal relative to the big companies. Easy pick up and drop off from the airport and very friendly staff, would use again. 1st visit to Iceland and we will be back!!

Excellent service, highly recommended; picked up on time on arrival, brand new 4x4 supplied, dropped off at the airport when leaving without a hitch, despite heavy snow.....whats not to like. Great service, easy to recommend to others.

They are very nice and they did come to pick up us on time. Thank you very much for upgrading the car to a newer year model for our family and also filling up the gas tank for us thus we could catch the flight on time. We had an great experience with northbound and their price is also the best I could found for my trip. We will definitely spread the word for you.

Icerental customer service was good. Very friendly at pick up in the office. If I had to be picky and say what could be improved- upon arrival to airport in Reykjavik the car agent (shuttle bus) was not there. He did however arrive within 5 minutes.When we were dropping the car back the shuttle bus was out (it was 4am and we had 3 very sleepy kids with us.) we only had to wait about 10 minutes but again it would have been nice if the shuttle bus was there on arrival. The guy at Ice rental offered to drive us to the airport terminal in our car but there wasn’t room as we were 5 passengers already. The car itself was a good solid car. It did seem quite old though. We never got to test the snow tyres as it only snowed after we had dropped the car back. Would I use Northbound again?-absolutely. Would I use Ice rental? Probably if the price was better than alternatives.

The general experience with Icerental 4x4 was great. We booked the vehicle through the northbound.is website and booking process was fast and easy. An agent from Icerental 4x4 met us at the airport and he drove us to the rental office. Our vehicle was ready and we quickly finished the necessary paperwork. Rental agent explained everything and gave us some useful tips (to hold the doors when entering and exiting the vehicle due to strong winds). We had no issues with the car and we were very satisfied with the car. Our trip to Iceland was excellent and we had a lot of fun. I would recommend Icerental 4x4 to anyone looking to rent a car in Iceland.

I loved this car. It was very reliable and handled incredibly well in a very wide range of weather conditions from 40 m/s winds, to ice covered mountain passes, and deep slushy roads. It provided the perfect amount of space for 4 travelers in country for 12 days. I would buy one if I could.

The car was great and perfect for roads conditions. Easy to dry and reliable with all the weather conditions. Maybe diesel would be a little cheaper...

Hi, We had booked two Suzuki Grand Vitara for 10 days in Iceland from Northbound.is and I must say their service was absolutely brilliant. We got our cars in great condition and the entire process was extremely smooth. Loved their pickup and drop service which made our life easy. In between, we had a bit of a problem with one of the cars where the doors were not locking / unlocking using the remote key and they promptly changed the car. Even while returning the car, the process was smooth and even though we had an early morning flight back, we made it to the airport well ahead of time since they decided to drop us back to the airport from the rental office. We had a great experience with Northbound and we recommend anyone wishing to rent a car during their trip to Iceland to book it through Northbound. We have been left behind with lots of wonderful memories and a heartfelt thanks to Northbound for making that happen.

General experience was ok, but there are some things I did not liked. Car was 2005, not 2006. They have cahnged our car in last moment with the explanation that our car is probably dirty. Very, very strange. Than, they gave us a car without liquid for windscreen. We discovered it when we needed it big time. We used drinking water to wash it.

Pretty good the car is really low on power epecially for overtaking and hills, I think it needed better wippers it was leaving a ghost image on the windshield ubtill it dried or got really wet. Other than that it was good.

we booked a Honda cr-v for our trip and initially when we got there they didn't have one available so they asked us if Suzuki was ok. we told them no so they had us wait for a bit to get the car. they car was clean and nice and we didnt have any problem with our car

Our vehicle was reliable and the pick up/drop off procedures went smoothly.

We was given a free upgrade to a Vitra. Had no issues and the person who handed the car over to us was very helpful and gave us some hints and tips. No issues and would use again.

The service was very efficient from being picked up from the airport to picking up the car and then again on return. The downside unfortunately was the car it had a engine check light was permanently on and when we arrived at our hotel we found the handbrake was none existent so we had to make sure that we left it in gear where ever we went an not on any slopes. The car was a bit battered but can't really complain as the price was good compare to other car rentals.

My experience was very good!

Great car and a friendly agent who met us at the airport. Icerental 4x4 don't have any facilities at the airport so when you are booking this needs to be taken into account. They are based a few minutes from the airport and you are driven there and back again at either ends of the journey. We had a bit of a delay when we landed possibly because the person meeting us took someone else back to their office while we were in the duty free shop. This caused us some anxious moments because we were hanging around for quite a while in the airport. There was also a worrying issue at the Iceland office related to the security deposit. The agent appeared to be telling us that the full liability amount £3600 would be charged to our card. I believe it was a language issue and obviously we weren't actually charged this amount. I should have been better prepared by reading the detail and then I would have known what to expect but maybe other people will also come across this same situation? So two issues but they didn't spoil our overall experience

The actual car was comfortable to use and drive. Upon returning it however we were accused if creating a 3cm scratch and felt intimidated into paying a significant amount of money for this even though the person at the desk admitted that he could not prove that damage was created by us. We felt backed into a corner to pay as it we needed to get to the airport to catch our flight. Will encourage others to avoid this company.

We had a good experience with Northbound overall. We were picked up at the Keflavik airport by a Northbound agent and taken to their office (not attached to the airport). The car was in good condition, although the wipers were a little worn down. There was a bit of a mix up with the return time, but they were understanding and allowed us to return the car later than the stated return time without issue.
