Icerental 4x4 in Iceland

The car was great and very stable! It served us very well throughout the trip, though petrol was expensive :)

Nice experience for booking a car with Northbound. Easy process to get what you wish!

The car did the job but had a few faults (mirrors, demisters, etc.). Since our group was so large we didn't have much choice of suitable vehicles from any Iceland rental firm so at least this company had a vehicle that fit the bill! Or pickup experience wasn't great, the driver would not take our whole group to the rental place so we had to leave our kids at the airport while the two adults (nominated drivers) went to fetch the car. Our understanding from the website was that the whole group would be collected.

We were changed to a Rav4 at rental time. The vehicle was roomy enough for the 3 of us that were visiting. Except for a sensor problem with the tires all went very well. Representatives at facility were very friendly and efficient. If I ever return to Iceland I would not hesitate to use you again and also be happy to reccomend you to any friends that might visit.

The car was fine - a little worse for wear (132,000km on the clock), but it ran well. The problem came when we returned it at the end of the holiday. At that point the Ice Rental rep identified some minor marks on the engine hood/bonnet. We do not believe that these were due to any actions on our part, but we could not prove this. These marks were superficial at most, and could without doubt be polished out. Despite this, we were given a quote of 90,000 Icelandic Krona for repair (i.e. the cost of a respray or new bonnet), which we were in effect forced to pay there and then otherwise it was clear we would not have been given a lift to the airport. We are now trying to resolve this with our insurers, and I am considering raising a complaint through our credit card company. Whilst the holiday was otherwise fantastic, this experience left a sour taste in our mouths. I would consider using northbound again, but will certainly steer clear of Ice Rental on our next visit to your beautiful country.

Car had done a lot of KM for something that was meant to be only 2Yrs old.Looked well used.Lots of small areas of damage which you have to agree to - not all marked. Car did dive ok and had no problems.

The wheel was not aligned and when I was releasing the steering wheel, the car wasn't going straight forward and tend to go to the right direction. The windshield wipers both front and back were not good at all, they needed to be replaced. For the heating AC it was taking some time to start heating the car. Brakes were not very sharp, had to press the brake pedal with more force than usual. lots of wind and tire noise comes into the cabin. The car was running on diesel which was good for amount of mileage we did. The car is spacious and automatic gearbox and cruise control make it easy to drive for long hours. Also it was nice to have seated heating, very useful. USB charging was useful as well.

There were 3 things that keep me from giving a 5 star review. 1) We waited at the airport for over 30 minutes for someone to come from Icerental 4x4 to arrive and take us to get the car. Once we did have someone available, they could not take our entire party, but only the driver, to the car rental causing the driver to return to the airport for the rest of our part and the luggage. 2) There were a couple of mornings where the car was slow to start, indicating that the battery was not at its best. 3) If we hadn't brought our own car charger with us, we would not have gotten good use of the wifi device. The cord that came with the device wasn't keeping the device charged or connected effectively. Other than that, our experience in Iceland was great. Northbound provided what they said they would and the car did everything we needed it to.
