Lagoon Car Rental in Iceland

I would have no hesitating in recommending Northbound rental to anyone. I was on my Honeymoon in Iceland so I really didn't want any hassle along the way, and I am happy to say my experience with Northbound couldn't have gone any smoother. The staff were very helpful and friendly, the vehicle was immaculate 10/10 ( we rented a 2016 Toyota Land Cruiser - can highly recommend ). In a nut shell this a local company providing a excellent service what more could you ask for :)

THE BAD: Due to a communication breakdown, information regarding my booking had not been received by the car rental company, Lagoon Car Rental. After waiting 30 mins past the pick up time, I finally asked the owners of the hotel to phone the number I'd been given, only to find they knew nothing about my booking. Someone did eventually come and collect me but, as a result of the confusion, my departure from Reykjavic was delayed by over 2 1/2 hours. THE GOOD: Because of the mix-up, Lagoon Car Rental upgraded me to a Subaru Forester, with GPS. The car proved to be a great vehicle to drive and my overall experience, renting a car in Iceland, was a good one. (My rating reflects the inconvenience and stress caused by the initial problems with the booking.)

This was a great hassle free car rental! It took a little time checking in and getting the car but this is usual when renting cars! The car was perfect for what we needed and the people at Lagoon Car Rental were nice.

Very good service. We were picked up from our Reykjavik hotel and taken to Lagoon's office. Car was in excellent condition and ran very smoothly during the period of our hire. Upon return to the Keflavik rental office, we were taken by a member of staff to our hotel. Overall, an excellent experience.

The crew is very friendly. When returning cars, we call to change our pick up location a day before and the crew is more than helpful to find us for I have really difficulty when pronounce the road name. We are satisfy on the service northbound provided. Just a small suggestion, the car interior and the seats is a little bit dirty, (With white spot on it...) but it's not big problem, we use tissue to wipe out.

Service was perfect. Collected car in the middle of the night in good condition, no fuss about potential damages when returned in the dark (there were no damages, actually!) or fuel gauge. Suzuki Jimny was the perfect car for "expeditions" to Askja and Sprengisandur, including river crossings - at medium water level, well understood. Price was ok: 943 EUR for 9 days. Would recommend the car and the rental service!

This is a long overdue review. My cousin and I visited Iceland back in September. We rented our Mitsubishi through Lagoon Car Rental and highly recommend this company to other travelers. We had some car trouble (I admit it was not the car/company's fault but ours) and the customer rep went above and beyond to help us out. I cannot thank them enough for their patience and service!

Renting a car from Lagoon was very convenient: one of their employees drove the car over to the place we were staying, and at the end of our trip, came by to pick it up. The car itself was fine; it had some difficulty with hills and gravel roads, but overall we had no problems.

The Blue Lagoon Car Rental service went very well for the most part. The only issue was that we initially set an 8 AM pick-up time, but for some reason there was some miscommunication and we didn't get picked up until 9 AM (after calling and emailing). Other than that, however, I appreciated the customer service we received. We had no problems with the car and everything else went well. Another suggestion would be to provide printed directions on how to find the Lagoon Car Rental address near the airport. We got lucky and had Google Maps, but it would have been hard to find if we did not have GPS or did not know that it was actually located in Keflavik instead of at the airport terminal. All in all, I had a wonderful time in Iceland and appreciate that the car was in good condition and did not have any problems.

It was almost perfect except for 2 little details. We didn't get picked up on time and didn't know how to get in touch with lagoon car rental. We finally asked the airport service desk to call them after a half hour of waiting. Also, when we got there, the Subaru was not available. They gave us a kia instead, and I believe they believed it was an upgrade. The guys were very nice and business like. The car was able to go up the mountains with no problem. All in all it was a good experience and Iceland was beautiful!

We were very satisfied with Lagoon Car Rental's services although their guy were a little late for our appointment. Our original reservation was for them to give us a ride from our hotel to their office and then we picked up our rental car from there, but instead, they drove our car to our hotel to save our trip. It was very thoughtful of them to do that. They patiently helped us to park our car at a good parking spot close to the hotel and also showed us how to use the meter for the parking. I would highly recommend to anybody who wants to have a nice road trip in Iceland!

I had a great experience with Lagoon Car Rental. Not only did they deliver our car straight to our accommodation, but we got a free upgrade. The car was clean and ran well. Only the drop off point at Keflavik airport is a bit difficult to find - they take you to the airport via a shuttle and the drop off is at the beginning of what looks like an industrial estate. There was a small sign (which is very easy to miss) to point you in the right direction. The collection of the car was quick and I was in the airport in no time. Overall, a great experience.

Lagoon car rental was great. The car we booked wasn't available so we got a free upgrade. It's a lot better driving yourself than going with the tour guides. Thanks.

We were happy with the service provided. We were originally surprised we didn’t get a VW as per my order, but it turned out well in the end as the car we got was very economical and had GPS, which was very helpful.

Travel in Iceland as always was perfect. The staff with which we met in the Lagoon Car Renthal were impeccably professional and courteous. The girl who gave us the car was extremely accommodating. We were only surprised by the fact that the car we booked a Toyota Land Kryuyser 2016 in result looked much older and had a damage arount all the car. As a result, imagining how much time and effort will take clarify this situation, we have decided to leave this issue not been solved, and picked up the car in the condition that we were ofered.

The overall experience with Lagoon Car Rental is OK, however there are some details what I have to mention: - The car had minor damages (broken fog light, etc) what was not marked during hand-over. I expect such a thing is pre-marked (thus I'm not going to be charged if I don't notice) - Vehicle was not properly cleaned inside - Our booking clearly says it's a 2016 model, however it was a fairly used older one, and we didn't get any discount for this reason. - Wiper blades were extremely used, it's even a safety issue.

I think Lagoon Car rental service is good though the pick-up have a little delay in the firs day. The car of 2016 Hyundai Tucson(4x4) is new, good performance and spend 12 days with us in Iceland without any problem. I would recommend Lagoon Car rental for everyone who wants to self-driving at Iceland.

Amazing! So easy. They didn't push the extra insurance as much as I thought they would, which was refreshing. When we returned the car, they gave it a quick once over and that was that. Super easy. No hidden extra charges. Also very reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend this rental agency.

We took the bus from downtown to Lagoon rental. Easy and no problem finding the rental place. The Dacia Duster was not available when we were to pickup our rental car. We got an upgrade to a Toyota RAV4 instead which was really good. We drove around Iceland during 4 days and it was amazing. No problems with the car, no problems finding gas stations (thanks for the gas card). We drove mainly on the main roads but also tried some roads that was in not so good condition. When we returned the car we was also offered a lift downtown which was really nice. We had a great week and can really recommend exploring Iceland. We'll come back!

We booked the car with Lagoon Car Rental through Northbound.is, which is a great website with amazing customer service. We decided to go with the Hyundai i20 since it is cheap and because we wanted to travel a lot on the road, so we needed a car that we wouldn't have to refuel too often (gas is really expensive in Iceland!). The people at Lagoon Car Rental were nice and friendly. The car we had was super clean and fun to drive. We're sure that our experience in Iceland was ten times better because we decided to rent a car!

Our holiday was fabulous, and we hope to return to Iceland to do further hiking/travel, and so forth. So much to see!
