It was great... only thing was getting hit with the 4500 ISK fine for the tunnel. But of course there was nothing northbound could have done about that. Maybe having some specific notes about driving rules or peculiarities of driving in Iceland.
We had a great experience with Lava Car Rental! They picked us up at the airport when we landed and quickly got us in to our car. I booked the car for noon, even though we landed at 10am (oops), but they were able to accomodate us and get us a car by 11:30.
We enjoyed our Dacia Duster. It was the perfect size for 2 people (no more than 2 especially if you have a suit case or 2 each) and was a 4x4 so we could tackle the dirt roads along our adventure. It was a manual car, as most are in Iceland, so make sure you understand that before booking. I recommend getting the windshield insurance as there are lots of rocks flying everywhere and you will most likely need it.
When we returned our car, the Lava team quickly inspected our car and took us straight to the airport. It was an easy, quick experience and all of the employees were very friendly and helpful! Their prices are also the best around!
The vehicle was good and the staff was friendly, however they did not offer great insurance plans.

My frends had 3 cars from Blue rental and they were perfect condition.
25.8. at 4:40 we came to Lava and nobody was there, at 5h came the man who came to work and was suprised that we were alone and nobody was at the desk.
We had a great experience in Iceland with Blue Lagoon Car Rental. When arrived at the Keflavik airport (at night, 00:30 am)we didn't see anyone of the rental so we called them and in less than 5 minutes they came to pick up us. The car was equipped with all we requested, the guy at the desk clearly gave us some important information about the driving in Iceland. Before picking up the car, we were able to check and flag in a paper all the scratches, dents, cracks, missings, exc already present in the car to avoid future misunderstanding.
The only flaw encountered during our trip was that the grill was unusable because of incorrect gas bottle dotation (however price of this service was not significant). We are happy to suggest Blue Lagoon to whoever wanna take a "on the road" trip in Iceland.
The car was pretty good, with no problem at all, maybe in four it is a little bit small. In the description, this vehicle should have cruise contro, but i cannot be able to find it...

My Experience with Northboud was nice because I could compare different rental agencies and choose the most convenient one from a logistic and economical point of view.
My experience with Lava Car Rental was satisfactory because I got an almost new Dacia Duster, very clean both inside and outside, I got useful information when driving close to Akureyri about the need to pay the fee in advance to use the tunnel (in this way it could spend less money).

The vehicle was excellent. We had a problem with a tire preassure sensor due to a battery failure and they fixed the problem at the moment. So I recommend the company for the good service we received
It was great! My favorite thing about it, besides the way it handled on the road, was the bright blue color - it stood out so well against the beautiful scenery. The check-in and check-put process was efficient and smooth. It took us a few extra minutes to find the shuttle driver at the airport, but after we found him the whole process was quick and efficient.
We had a Dacia Duster from 2019 which was new and relatively clean. It even managed to 'climb' rocky offroad roads and hills and was well equipped. We booked the full coverage insurance and therefore had a quick pick up. When we dropped the car off, we even got a lift back to our hotel as it was super rainy and stormy
The check in was quite long (2 hours To get the keys).
No problem with the car we rent, the check out was more efficient !
The experience in general was good, a part from two things.
I suggest customer to check every optional included in the booking before leaving: we received only one gas canister instead of the two booked. When we checked everything, we were already in the north and not every shop sells the brand campingaz: the third night we couldn’t cook (I don’t think the gas canister they gave us was new and full, but already opened and new).
I suggest the company to check the car before give it to new customers: while we were in the north, it has been signaled by the car the absence of AdBlue: the car would have stopped in 1000 km. We had to go to the first “N1” shop to get AdBlue refill.
Fortunately, the assistance was really good and they always answered us in short time
The cracks and dents didn't create a good impression on its performance initially. We had a smooth ride with the car. No breakdowns. However the seat adjustment mechanism for centre row of seats was not working. It could not be locked when we pushed it forward.
We had good experience with customer service. Able to respond quick. Able to provide assistance when we in need.
We rented the Ford Focus camper for a 10 days trip around (the amazing) Iceland. It was perfect, no issue at all. It is easy and comfortable to drive, low fuel consumption (6.7 L /100 km for a 2500km trip) and the facilities are very handy (wifi, sink with water, fridge, heater, gas strove). It was our little house for 10 days. Furthermore, Gudmundur Bjarni was very helpful and kind with us. He replied each and every question we had before and during the trip. We strongly recommend it!

Was not a Dacia Logan but a Hunday I30.
All was fine, the only problemwe had to wait 40 minutes before someone picked us up to pick up the car.

Lagoon car rental were v helpful.
We were not offered any additional insurance which when we hired the car was ok. But we got a chip in the windscreen and it turns out this is a common thing in iceland, 5 cars a week at Lagoon. I had to pay 700eur. I would have liked to have been made aware of the high risk and the extra insurance available. This could have saved me over 600eur.
We went camping it would have made it easier to filter the facilities at each campsite so we could easily see those with kitchens and cooking facilities.
The Suzuki Grand Vitara + Roof Tent was perfect for our needs and we did not have any issues with the car during our trip. However, our experience with Icerental 4x4 was less than ideal. The shuttle from the airport to the car rental office was 1 hour late. While we were waiting in the airport I sent an email requesting the shuttle and we were informed the shuttle arrives at the airport every 20 minutes, which was untrue and unhelpful. In addition, we were charged for wind damages to the door car in the amount of $1,126, which, while we accept responsibility for the damages, seems excessive given the damages. In addition, we purchased the additional Super Collision Damage insurance, which turned out to be useless for us as it did not cover wind damage. We are waiting for proof of repair costs and are hopeful the Icerental 4x4 will continue to be communicative, despite our less than pleasant experiences with them while in Iceland...
Camping Cars was fantastic and a great way to see Iceland. The service was friendly and the car was great - surprisingly comfortable sleeping on the top of the car. Would definitely recommend to anyone traveling through Iceland.
The car was good, though the steering wheel was a bit shaky at speeds between 70/80. Furthermore the roof tent was fine but during windy and rainy weather, water came insight and it became wet. In addition, the cooking stove was not really working properly as we were not able to adjust the flame. These are some small drawbacks concerning the equipment - would be good if these would be fixed for the next customer. But in general we are satisfied with your service.

The car was amazing. Exactly what you need to explore this amazing country. The roof top makes all the difference. You can stop anywhere and have your room ready in 15sec. The service at lotus was great, quick and efficient. I highly recommend it.
It was actually a Hyundai... but it was easy... good visibility.... no problems at all. Of course the GPS was totally worth it
The costumer support was great. we had a few minor issues with the car but they ware resolved very rapidly while we ware 300km away from Reykjavik.
If we'll to return to Iceland one day, we'll book a car with Grand Iceland.
We had a "similar" car which was Subaru xv. Car was very nice and good. Only remarkable difference was that I rent diesel and subaru was petrol. Fuel consumption was a bit bigger. I rent also two camping mattress with car and those were quite poor. Gps, sleeping bags and cooling box was good. Service was good. Thanks :)
