Icerental 4x4 in Iceland

Our car rental experience with Iceland 4x4 was overall outstanding. All aspects regarding our rental went off without a hitch-we were picked up on time , the car was exactly as booked and performed great (glad we had 4 wheel drive and studded tires for the snow and ice we encountered). Drop off went well- a little hectic as a number of customers were returning at the same time but the personnel adapted to the situation and got all of us to the airport on time-they were friendly and courteous throughout our contacts.I will rent with them again when we return to this beautiful country to explore the other half of the island we missed on this trip. Only down side was the rental pick up and drop off facility was a little rough and spartan in condition but if this keeps the rental price down I'll live with it. Happy I chose booking through Northbound-great website for price comparison, enjoyed the informative and entertaining blog and Iceland 101 Handbook.Northbound had good reviews, good pricing, and seemed trustworthy but ultimately I'm glad I chose Northbound because their support and response time to any question I had was outstanding.

I was very happy with the vehicle and the service I received from Icerental 4x4 via Northbound. The Duster was a great choice, and we buzzed all over with very little trouble. We had a little trouble, understanding where to connect at the airport when we landed (was the middle of the night to our bodies) but after understanding where the meeting place is-- they came promptly and we had no trouble after that. The guys are friendly, and helpful. It's a good, solid company that do what they say they will do. We bought the extra insurance- which I recommend. We loved the vehicle, and had no troubles. I would do it all over again the same way.

Mostly everyone we interacted with was friendly and kind. I picked up our rental after landing in Reykjavik at 4am, so it was dark and early. The person who handed off my car to me was unable to show me the previous damage on the car, and a cracked bumper that was there before we had on the car was not noted as precious damage. There were some things off with the car: the speedometer was off, but they had included a GPS that we had opted out of that showed us the correct speed. The fuel gauge was off, so we never knew quite when to gas up. The driver's side door could only be locked and unlocked manually. Sometimes when opening a door, the blinkers for the car would turn on. The alignment of the wheels was a bit off. We called every time we noticed things were off, including when we noticed the damage to the bumper. We were fairly certain that we hadn't caused this damage, but when we called, the person on the phone said we would be liable because it wasn't marked as previous damage. We spent a part of our trip being really stressed that we would have to pay for this mysterious bumper crack. When I returned the car, thankfully a very friendly person helped me and let me know that this damage was already there, and not to worry. I should have taken pictures beforehand, but it was really dark that early in the morning and difficult to see properly. That being said, we had a safe trip driving the ring road, and this was a more affordable 4x4 rental than other companies. Wish we knew about the speedometer and ge fuel gauge, which were the most concerning issues.

We were a group of 12 people and rented 3 Dacia Dusters. The cars were new and totally in line with their descriptions by the Co. We received an excellent support from Runar Thor even when we were still planning our journey, and would like to thank him dearly for all the efforts he put into making sure our trip went smoothly. I have the car for 16 days, and the car is generally fine. One of the staff is very unprofessional in the checkout process. I bought the most experienced insurance package, and the guy warns me that dent, suspension, etc. are not covered. I have rented cars around the world for over 30 years, what's the purpose of buying insurance if none of these things are covered. If they are not, I think it should stated clearly during my online booking, rather than last minute when I am checking out a car and cannot find any other alternative. The car has a faulty flat tire sensor which is on 20 minutes after I drove off the rental location till I return the car. I call the emergency hotline multiple times, no one answered and no one called me back. I was stuck in snow once and called the emergency hotline, no one responded or called me back. I called the downtown office. The agent told me, "I just worked here, please call the emergency line." Luckily, someone drove by and helped me out. I found them unprofessional and unable to help when I needed it. Northbound experience is good, it was fast and easy, but Icerental 4x4 was disappointed. Luckily, I didn't have any other trouble.

Hi, as it happened we were given a regular, not Grand, Vitara as arranged. Wondering now if some money should have come off the bill? Guys at the office were great, car was fine and was good to have after the giant snow dump on Feb 25-6.

We received the car we were promised (Toyota RAV4) during the booking. The car was clean, low mileage, no issues. Quite comfortable for 5 adults. Enough space at the back, no transmission bump in the middle, rear seats recline. Picked up and dropped at the airport as promised. Would recommend to others.

Very good service, we happened to be collecting the car on Sunday 26th Feb when 50 cm of snow had fallen overnight. Icerental called and collected us from the hotel, they had dug the Vitara out of the show and warmed it up. We ventured off and had no issues despite the extreme conditions. All round excellent service and the vehicle was very good even on the icy/snowy roads.
